I just finished reading Summer of Love: Semper Fi. I expecially enjoyed the inside look the Marines. I usually read suspense and mystery (murder and mayhem) so this was quite a change for me. I was surprised that I enjoyed it much as I did. It is a very pleasant way to spend a few springtime afternoons. I'm looking forward to the next book. I think it is coming out in September. It's not a followup, but a stand alone novel. Give this first time author a try. I think he's off to a great start and I look forward to following his blossoming career.

I thought the writing style was absolutely one of the best I have ever read, right up there with some of my favorite authors.

I was kept involved and sometimes riveted by the details, without being bored by any of them. That's a skill that's hard to master, but this author has done it.

I'm definitely ready for more!
I'll start by saying that war is not a topic that I typically gravitate to when choosing a book. With that being said I absolutely loved this book! It is so much more than a tale of war. Nick, the main character, triumphs over adversity in Vietnam as well as at home learning to find comfort in his own skin along the way. Its not often that I read a book and feel as though I have made a new friend by the end. Bravo.
I am not an avid reader, and have not read many books in the past few years

I loved this book, and it reminded me of both the good and bad points of the late 60's and early 70's for those of us in the Marine Corps and other services. Like the central character in the book, I was also a Parris Island recruit and the author's descriptions of the boot camp environment were vivid and spot-on accurate. The entire book was a great read and kept me engaged from start to finish.

I hope there will be another book soon from this author, I'll be waiting for it.
