The Integrated Student Version of SPSS gives students the option of accessing the SPSS software from their home computer.The Integrated Student Version of the software operates on the same systems and has the same functionality as the SPSS 18.0 commercial English version except for the following limitations 1. We needed this program for our advanced stats class, and considering that IBM has the grad student pack for over $100 for a year long membership, this was a great deal. Since our first stats lab was a tutorial for the program, just having this cd which cost me less than $30 was enough (I don't need the book that comes with it, which ends up tacking on another $50). Although I am used to excel, I would have to say that this program outweighs excel with it's graphing options. Most variables are drag and drop so you don't have to waste a lot of time typing in axis information and fitting a normalized curve. There is also a function that tells you the null hypothesis so this is also very useful. I think this is a great program for advanced stats and data sets that have at least 20 data points and using non-parametric calculations. If you are going with a small scale data set, I think excel would be easier to use. Since some things were not as intuitive if I didn't have a tutorial session, such as listing variables before entering your data set and how to use certain calculations (setting parameters to get the right data output), I might be alternating between excel and this program depending on what I needed to calculate (Parametric calculations are easy enough to use on excel) Loading the program was also very simple and I had no problems(I have a PC running windows 7)One problem I ran into recently was that the student version does NOT run repeated measures (that is only available in the full version through IBM for an extra $100 membership). It's kind of a hassle for my class and research but I've been downloading trial versions of the full program in order to use the repeated measures function.

The 18.0 Student Version of SPSS does not have the syntax command. If you do not use syntax, then this product will do the job for you. However, we only rely on the syntax command in my classes, so it's useless for me.
Everything was great about this version of SPSS Student, which is perfect if you're a student. Every assignment I had was able to be done with this version of the software. It works on both Mac and PC. If you plan to use it with a Mac, and you will be creating graphics/charts, you will need to install a special patch, found on the IBM website.
I was working with IBM to get a problem resolved with software. So, I ordered this product. I received a replacement cd from IBM about an hour after I ordered this product.
Regardless, the product was sent out very quick and there was no problem with my returning it. A smooth transaction all the way around.

I hate statistics but this made it so much easier to handle since the program did all the work for you. I'm continuing my work in psychology, so I might be investing in another non-student version of this. It's pretty user friendly.
Great product but the student version has 2 main drawbacks compared to the regular version
1) No Syntax
2) Database size limtation. Can't have more than 1500 cases, and a limited number of variables.
Other than that its a great program. Just make sure it fits your needs
I bought this program for a statistics course and am using it with my MacBook Pro OS X 10.6.6. For the most part the program works fine however when you want to create certain graphs such as histograms this is where it is not Mac compatible. It say that there is a Java Virtual Machine not installed. And from my readings on the internet there is not a simple fix for this. So I have since installed it onto my old PC and it seems to be working fine.

I have successfully installed this software onto my computer. However, every time I attempt to open the program, I receive a "fatal error 2072." My operating system is Windows Vista, 64-bit. This is the first time an issue like this has happened for me for any software.
I have attempted to contact IBM (who designs this software) with no avail. Their help pages aren't helpful and good luck trying to get someone to help you with the issue over the phone! I had to submit a technical work order request via email. Because it's more trouble than it's worth, I have removed the program from my computer.
